2017 ACES Beekeeping Symposium

February 4th, Clanton Alabama

Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center

Greetings Beekeepers,

Attached is information and registration material for the 22nd Alabama Cooperative Extension System Symposium.  Please note that the symposium will again be at the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center in Clanton, Alabama.

Last year, we ran multiple sessions on the same topic to accommodate our new beekeepers.  This year the Beginner Beekeeper Program will meet in a new building behind the conference center.  This area will be set up for 300 new beekeepers and experience beekeepers who would like more information.  Lonnie Funderburg has developed an outstanding program for this alternative workshop to help new beekeepers get a good start.

In addition to many qualified and experienced instructors, nationally known speakers, Dr. Jamie Ellis, University of Florida; Phil Craft, Bee Culture Columnist and former Kentucky State Apiarist; and Keith Fielder, University of Georgia Extension Coordinator, will each give two presentations.

Beekeepers will also have an opportunity to hear from Dr. Geoff Williams, the new Assistant Professor of Insect Pollination and Apiculture at Auburn University.  Barry Richards will be our off site presenter.  He will be live streaming a presentation on Honey Marketing from Tennessee.

Just in case you need additional topics, The “Movie Room” will be back with captured videos for your viewing.

This should a fantastic meeting with information for both new and experienced beekeepers, as well as, a large selection of bee supplies from national bee supply companies.

We hope you can join us on February 4, 2017.
